We’re excited to share more details about major updates to Gooru coming this June! Last month, we announced new features to help you and your students navigate their learning by supporting them to understand where they are, where they need to go, and what pathway best fits the way they learn. Now, we’d like to share that there will be quality content, created and vetted by educators, to accompany those features.
Check out this 2-minute video sneak peek to see what’s coming up in June.
Remix quality Gooru courses
We’ll be debuting quality courses developed and implemented at innovative schools, districts, and charters. These courses are educator-curated, built in classrooms, and studied by students over the past nine months.
Courses have been designed to support blended learning, flipped classrooms, project-based learning, and other instructional models. Anyone in the Gooru community will be able to remix and customize these courses to personalize learning for their students (or build new courses)!
We’ve updated our content editor to make it easier to build your Gooru content, from assessments to collections to full courses. Tag to standards, collaborate with your colleagues, and manage assignments for the classes you create in Gooru. Build assessments with 8 interactive question formats.
Access and share all your content from your profile
Manage personal content and collaborate with colleagues all from your personalized Gooru profile. Follow other educators to stay up-to-date on the latest content they share.
More support coming soon!
The updates coming to Gooru means that it will look different from how it does now. We want to make sure that we make your transition as smooth as possible. We’ll be sharing updated support materials as we get closer to June, as well as offering training webinars.
What do these updates mean for your account?
What about your content? Not to worry—your existing courses, collections, and assessments on Gooru will still be available. Gooru will continue to be free for students and teachers, forever.
Why June? We chose to release these changes at the end of the school year so you could use the summer to transition slowly. If you’re planning to use Gooru classes heavily this summer, or running trainings in June, please let us know immediately so we can support you.
Looking for Pre-Algebra Intervention? Join Us This Summer
Gooru and Leadership Public Schools, a charter management network based in Oakland, CA, have collaborated to develop Navigate Math. Navigate Math is a pre-algebra course and approach developed by teachers to backfill 2nd-7th grade math skills.
Navigate Math’s approach combines direct instruction with self-paced resources, real-time assessments, and features to build growth mindset and peer collaboration. Navigate Math students have gained 2.3 grade levels of growth in one year according to NWEA MAP scores.
Leadership Public Schools will hold two three-day summer trainings in July and August 2016 to help teachers and districts implement Navigate Math. See its impact in this short video, or click the button below to learn more.
